I went to one and really didnt see the point of all of it......Just a bunch of procedural stuff with nothing of real substance occurring......Dog hunters griping was about the highlight of it

I've already got a message back about us not seeing a lot of does, much less mature bucks. Was told he was hearing the exact opposite, too many does! So I already feel I wasted my time. Oh well.

I think they just find someone saying whatever narrative they want to support and go with that……reality doesn’t matter….only perception……A bunch of the big “plantations” shut down their doe harvesting this year….They didn’t do that because there’s “too many does!!!”……It makes you wonder who these folks are that they’re getting their info from with what they’re “hearing”……..I cant speak to having my feet on the ground all the way south to the Florida line but I just cant imagine that all those other southeastern counties are seeing something way different than the counties I frequent……

Maybe someone can tell them you can’t manage the whole state as one and will cut off the northern part in mid January. Oh wait, it only matters what the lobbyists say anyway. Let private owners get doe tags and management help as needed and let the state biologist do their job and earn their pay without someone above them telling them what to do and say.

If the state were to manage our deer correctly, they would need at least 10 deer management zones with different limits and seasons for each zone.

Are you sure you want to give individuals unfettered power to control your right to hunt as they see fit?

If you were paying attention when the dcnr first took it upon themselves to attempt to manage deer statewide, the study group spokesperson (a biologist) admitted that it was an impossible task.

Most of the biologists have jumped ship, transferred to other state agencies or retired.

You’d rather have politicians make decisions on game management than biologists? Where does the unfettered power come from? Biologists simply make recommendations based off hunter input in their respective regions and the data they collect. It’s not driven by money, political pressure or personal gain.

Don't call it steel, call it tungsten or TSS. They will get really confused if you call it steel. smile

If you wait until the meeting to bring it up, there's little chance of them dealing with it this year. You need to contact them in advance and make sure they know about the issue before the meeting. You only get 3 minutes to speak in person, and they allow that only because the law requires it. Gotta contact them in advance with facts if you want it changed.

The dog hunters association oughta be an ally on this. I would contact them and ask them to help. Good luck getting it changed. All it really takes is someone willing to push it.

Neither one. The compelling public interest to restrict our right to hunt is conservation of the different species, not micro management of a couple of the species.

Seasons and bag limits being completely excluded from any lawful requirement to include public input or review by our legislature during the process.

I did talk to Kevin Savoy on Thursday and told him that me and the surrounding neighbors aren't seeing many does and he said everyone else is saying too many does. So that's that.

The AL DCNR is not a place I’d want to work. Your input is useless as an employer and Chuck and company up high can hide and twist things as they want and work with certain CAB members to boot. Some of the honest CAB members are ignored.

But is always been that way. They eat that big dinner and have the unofficial meeting beforehand anyway.

Had a good friend of mine that just quit the DCNR after 13 years......I was shocked

The comments on Farcebook are absurd these days……I don’t know if there’s just that many “influencers” on there trying to sway opinions with their BS or if there’s been that many people influenced to believe it…..probably both…… But there’s definitely an agenda at play……

We should all go before the King's court and plead our cases to continue the "privilege" of hunting the state's deer. We should be proud to pay for the "privilege" and attend for the most important reason of making the King's minions feel important. We should also "comply", as Chuck would say, with every edict of the King.

Something the state cant force you to do is shoot does……If “the people” ever got fed up with it and wanted to protest the state’s actions then everyone shutting down doe harvest would be a fitting way of going about it……. Their main power comes through misinformation and convincing hunters to keep pulling the trigger as much as they’ll pull it……..That’s the main strategy of the other interests…..I think that’s the main reason they’re not ever going to actually educate hunters…..Once they lose control of the narrative and hunters realize that they’re just suppressing the populations then those other interests are just fugged……They can raise the doe limit to 5 per day if they want to but they still cant force anyone to shoot them……They’d be like “What are we gonna do now!?!?”…….Answer: I guess we gotta come up with a different solution because we rode that other strategy into the dirt and now we’ve lost the trust of the people…..

But maybe there isnt a better solution and the reality of the world we live in today is that everybody isnt going to get to have good hunting because there’s too much other chit that has to get done to support the “progress”…….Its hard for the realist in me not to recognize that chitty part of it

Got my email synopsis of the meeting this morning. Appears that the "too many does" folks won out. Proposal on the table to go back to 2 does per day statewide except in zone C.

Another way would be a boycott on buying licenses. I predict that one year would get the message across loud and clear, even to the blockheads in Montgomery.

Something needs to change......They've completely hijacked the process and dont have any other goal than to drive populations down as low as they can get them.....I talk to a lot of hunters in my area and there is absolutely zero complaining about too many deer.....actually just the opposite.....I wonder if they will have any data to back up their decision or what they will us to justify the action??

We need to go back to 2 per day in zone C as well. Lots of areas of the state have way too many deer.
