Probably more than that…….Start figuring in all the real costs associated with it if we actually did it that way…..The cost of the dogs….. the dog food…..the vet bills…..the equipment like GPS collars and dog boxes…..my boots…..the jet sled…….the gun.....the ammo.....the lights.....the truck I use and all the upkeep on it……the gas………etc…etc…etc….add all of those things up and then see what you’d have to charge just to break even on 50 tracks.....I bet its quite a bit........not to mention this profit stuff folks are talking about..... grin

If you did that ^^^^^ it would probably just shut tracking down because there just arent enough quality bucks out there that folks are gonna tip/donate/pay $500 to have tracked for trackers to even be able to “stay in business”……..The whole thing wouldn’t even serve any purpose in the end because no money would actually be generated for the state from doing it when folks just quit……I highly doubt you’re gonna see that happen…..The powers that be make bad shots too…… rofl .......I’m pretty sure though that most trackers including myself just take donations…… smile

People want more regs, until they don't. Keep on asking for more and you will get more.

Tracker/dog owner I know has killed at least 8. Found several dead. Definitely well over his 3 buck limit of kills. He killed several at night. Hunting deer with a dog is almost out of control. It at need a business license and tax code.

Them Facebook trackers keep bragging about how many miles they tracked the deer then bayed him up. Etc etc.

They digging there own grave on the deal. More people get involved and more money can be made off it for the DCNR. I haye it for the good guys that tracks and does it cause they enjoy it and to help folks. But alot of them guys on the internet gonna keep bragging me that’s what’s gonna be the nail in the coffin.

Keep shining a light on something and someone will see it.

If they would just leave out a lot of the details on Facebook, it would help the cause I feel like. But when they say they tracked a leg shot buck 2 miles, bayed him up and finished him off for the hunter. Then that brings attention, and not the good kind I feel like.

Are trackers not claiming their money with the IRS? If they are advertising services, they should be required to have a business license and to report taxable income, correct?

Sounds like you have an expensive hobby tracking deer CNC, just like I have an expensive hobby growing deer. I would be perfectly fine if they banned it totally. Maybe a few folks would actually start taking shots they can make instead pulling the trigger on that hard quartering shot at 300 yards thinking what the heck, if I get a bullet in it everywhere I can call the dog man. I have passed bigger deer than I have ever shot because I was not 100% confident I could kill and recover it.

Could you imagine the responses I'd get if I started charging people to bring my squirrel dog to there land to hunt? I don't know why paying someone to work there dogs ever became a thing

Typical Gov program. They will tax the trackers and generate $75,000.00. Then they will hire someone to oversee the Tracking Division and pay them $110,000.00.

They're still going to take that not-so-good shot, and more deer will be coyote dinner.

The discussion largely revolves about how deer tracking dogs cross-over with other kinds of hunting dogs. in the regulations. But the discussion about breeds of dogs, is also being tossed around.

Someone on here needs to keep starting threads, on what the state needs to do. This is what happens when you keep bringing that crap up

I think this has a lot to with it., way too many folks giving way to much details on social media for the world to see. I have noticed it has gone from tracking a mortally wounded deer with a dog or 2 to multiple dogs and a catch dog for miles on the track of a very much alive deer. This doesn't bother me near as much as pasting it all over Facebook and let the Peta bunch get ahold of it and here we go, mushroomed into more and more very complicated regs. People just cant keep their mouths shut anymore.
