If a movement could ever be started that got a significant percentage of hunters to not buy a license for a year or two the bureaucrats would get a loud and clear message. Just sayin.

Seems like they are just trying to limit the number of people using dogs to track deer by adding a bunch of hoops to jump through.

Though personally I am in favor of requiring dogs be kept on leash. But, I don't hunt deer in Alabama anyway so it really isn't any of my business.

Wait , you all for hunters spending money on tags to hunt but you some how have a problem dancing to your own tone .

All I know to tell is pay the fee or sell the dogs . Besides you could just up your fee to track.

What if I use my dog on my land? If I use my dog to track a deer I shot on a club I am in?

Once again, its stops being worth it after awhile if there’s not any quality on the landscape that folks are willing to tip someone to track…. …..The trackers up north where they have tags and a 2 buck limit cant even keep up with the phone calls, much less the tracks……

Less and less hunters, gotta get more out of them. It feels good every to shoot a few deer and not ot have bought a license since 2007.

I shot a deer I couldn’t find and I called CNC to let him know he could take his dog to potty in the area since I had already bothered it up looking for my deer. We lost the dog while he was gone for a poop and I’ll be derned if we didn’t find his dog and my deer in the same area soon after. Amazing.

That's what I would think too. You're not doing it as a business for profit so the law shouldn't apply.

I let my labrador retriever sit in the shooting house with me while I hunt. The dog isn't trained to track deer. I already know they would write me a ticket for an unregistered tracking dog if they catch us following a blood trail through the woods.

If this passes you will see the average cost for tracking a deer go from $100-150 to $250-300. Wouldn’t be worth it otherwise.

Probably more than that…….Start figuring in all the real costs associated with it if we actually did it that way…..The cost of the dogs….. the dog food…..the vet bills…..the equipment like GPS collars and dog boxes…..my boots…..the jet sled…….the gun.....the ammo.....the lights.....the truck I use and all the upkeep on it……the gas………etc…etc…etc….add all of those things up and then see what you’d have to charge just to break even on 50 tracks.....I bet its quite a bit........not to mention this profit stuff folks are talking about..... grin

Hobby ,,,, cost you money
Business, is supposed to make you money

Can't have it both ways

I tracked deer , id be paid just to show up before I tracked any where . Then id charge for time spent tracking. I wouldnt shot nothing I wouldn't drag nothing . Id track only
