Easiest way I can tell is start seeing a lot of big running tracks up and down roads. You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.

I believe this is when the first does at my property are about to be bred. In all seriousness, it gets hot again just as season goes out and they scrape it up through the first week of February. I figure the unbred does go into a second cycle during this time. After New Year's week it goes dead on my lease and then we might catch an end of daylight buck after MLK day until season goes out. Always remember that safety comes first. Then pull the trigger.
