Cameroon Parish is about to undergo some major changes. Elon said the current Mississippi river port system is flawed because the Atchafalaya makes more sense and he want to go back to nature's original plan. Not many people know what all that really means. As a geologist, my father always said that the Atchafalaya is going to become the dominant Mississippi River outlet......whether we want it or not. Long term, it's inescapable.

That gravity and the power of water thing tends to win no matter how much we try to get it under control. Elon is saying, lets work with it instead of against it for a change.
If the Atchafalya had been left alone to do its thing, Cameroon Parish would be more populated than Houston is today.

We already have the Calcasieu Ship Channel that goes up to the Port of Lake Charles. The Atchafalaya River is a LONG way from Cameron Parish. We are a hot spot for big LNG plants and terminals right now. I think Venture Global is starting another huge project along the ship channel in the town of Cameron. Big time tax $ of the Parish.

Morgan City might be the town you are thinking of not Cameron.

Yes I have some friends in Cameron that did pretty good leasing few hundred acres to a refinery.

All of the entire coast will change rapidly if Elon's ideas about total port and rail efficiency are put into affect. Tenn-Tom and TVA will also get a much needed total make-over. Elon went on a tirade about ACOE and TVA bureacratic systems recently. The folks that work for those agencies who do not do much of anything, are likely to really not being anything soon.
