You can never go wrong with Bookers. But it depends on how much you wan to spend. Bookers is usually around $100 a bottle. You can spend a LOT more than that.

My suggestion is get him a variety of middle priced stuff. Make sure TX blended whiskey is one of them if you do.

Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

How does he like to drink it Clarence? Neat, on ice, mixed? Neat or on ice, good mid range priced Basil Hayden, Eagle Rare, Knob Creek, are usually available and decently priced. If he's making old fashioned's or mixing with soft drinks, it doesn't matter as much and 4 Roses is a good one.

I love the wheated bourbons like Weller, but of course Weller is very hard to get. A close second is Woodford Wheated. Available everywhere and a solid bottle at $42. The wheated bourbons are much smoother when drinking it neat IMO and also have great flavor.

It's the smoothest best tasting whiskey I've found.this week anyway 😁
