No word yet from Mom about the Hippie, dont know how their place faired. They are off the beach a couple miles in a snowbird community. Mostly mobile homes that may have all floated away. Oddly enough 2 years ago they purchased a camper in Maggie Valley N.C. Its in a yearly pay campground. They may not enjoy retirement as much this next year.

All Governors and state EMS director should watch Ron DeSantis, AKA America's Governor, and Florida to see how this is done.

Reported to be a CAT4 with winds at 140 but Perry FL where the eye came ashore only recorded 99mph. That is still rough but better than the hyped 140. I'm interested to hear how bad the storm surge was around Alligator Point, etc.

West end of Dauphin island is flooded. Neighbors didn’t move their cars and they are buried in about 16” of wet sand.

That’s pretty normal for the west end. After a storm in the early’90’s the crews came in to”repair” the roads on the west end. After almost a year of work, it has never been the same. Any time heavy rains or a small front passes through the west end roads flood. That’s progress for ya.

My buddy reported from Carrabelle just west of Alligator Point.
No damage, yard flooding but didn’t get to his house or shop. Never lost power.

Like GS says it is pretty common but the water has been real high the last two mornings. Got up in the yard today. Its left me scratching my head as to how this storm has the water up this far to the west?

Storm surge was tough a long way from landfall. Business partner lives on Davis Island in Tampa and he got 3 feet in his garage. His folks live at Hudson just north of Tampa and got 6 feet thru their house.

1.1” of rain here. Much needed. It’s all been prefect. Just a light rain.

That is about where I figured the worst flooding was going to be and further up into the Carolina hills. The flash floods with that much water volume coming down the hills could turn in to something really bad.

Yep. May as well the whole Blue Ridge Parkway corridor , lower Appalachian Mts are gonna be really bad. Those mountain creeks are rolling. Those small towns with creeks and small rivers down in the valleys are gonna be in trouble and it'll happen fast .

Those places will still survive. Just like they have for thousands of years.

My inlaws live in Jesup. Nobody has been able to contact them the last 4 hours. Damn catastrophe there from what I hear.
I may have to go there with the chainsaws.

My wife's Aunt, who is a stark raving mad liberal, decided to ride out the storm in their house on Treasure Island. Well, yesterday evening, sewage started coming up out of the toilets, the water got waist deep in their house. I feel sorry for her husband. He will never hear the end of this. It is all his fault for sure.

There hasn't been "places" there for thousands of years. I.E. towns , homes, subdivisions , farms and such.
