My wife got drawn for the Primitive weapons hunt at portland 11/19
We are not going to be able to make it. It is in the middle of the week.
I will make someone here a damn good deal:
If you are the alternate for this hunt, reach out to me. I will decline the hunt and you can take it on the condition that you give me your word that you will take me as your guest.
I have a camp very close to Portland that i will even offer up as lodging and a side by side we can drive around on during the hunt. Hell, if you don't have a muzzleloader, I will even give you mine and I will bowhunt.

I may very well be incorrect, but I dont think that it works that way. You decline and then the state gets to select the alternate, from their list of alternates in the order in which the alternates names were drawn.

Looks like you’re gonna have to decline anyways or lose all your points and not be able to apply the following year for being a no show.
Might be better to just generally say “bring me as a guest for your Portland hunt and you can use my lodging and sxs”

If you could just communicate with each other as soon as I declined it, he could be ready to be Johnny on the spot with the accept button, it might work But I haven't found any of the alternates yet....I posted it on one of the facebook public land forums as well...that blew up in my face....guess I should have seen that coming. Really don't have anyone to blame but myself there.

I just copied and pasted the post here to the public land forum and there were people reaming me out saying what a bad idea it was, and how it was my fault they didn't get picked since I used my wife to take up a spot that (I guess) they think they would have been picked for otherwise, and how I should not have put in for a hunt that "I knew I couldn't make". Another guy kind of implied that he wanted to fight me at the Portland skinning shed after I told him to mind his business. Just garden variety "cyber bullying" I guess is what they call it. Some guy went as far as to tag the AWFF in the comments (I guess) in an effort to point out something he thought I was doing that was against the rules. I just deleted the post. I did not want to be kicked out of the group. Other than ALdeer it is my favorite hunting forum
