Any experience with liquid lime? PLANTAGRA was advertising a product at the deer show...considering trying on a new property that needs ph corrected. I realize that it's not a long term solution or as good as ag lime would be but at this point in the year (just acquired this property and want to plant fall plots)....would it be beneficial for this year's plots? Would plan to lime it with ag lime next spring/summer.

That sounds like a no brainer to me. I have 1 new plot that I haven't liked yet and I'm going to liquid lime it. This product claims to raise the ph 1 point with a gallon per acre. Supposed to last about 3 years.

You will really need to wash out your sprayer lines. These liquid lime products really don’t play well with other chemicals and gum up your sprayer lines.

I’m not convinced they are a substitute for crushed lime. I just can’t get my around the idea that a one gallon product can substitute for a ton of crushed lime. The science just doesn’t seem to add up.

would suggest saving your money and do the best you can with high-cal bagged lime. no one with agritech with return a call, email , or text to explain why none of my soil reports off 3 separate properties have changed. took samples every 2 months for 8 months. 55 gal of their humic / calcium product. and yes make sure your tank and lines are clean before using it and clean well AFTER using it. makes a salt like grit

Give me bout 15 more minutes, I was dreamin about beavers..........

My brain can't grasp the concept of 1 gallon, probably 8-10 lbs, equals 1 ton. Most quarry lime has a CCE of 85-90%. It would take some voodoo magic to increase that by 200x or so. No comprende

Ivetalked to a couple of people who know alot about farming and dirt. People who actually farm and went to college to study how to do it better. This was their opinions as well. If it were possible, it would have changed farming by now. I dont know of any bigtime acrage farmers doing it. If there was something easier or a dollar to be saved they would surely be doing it because for them a few minutes or dollars per acres adds up to weeks or millions of dollars. It just dont make sense.

The claims just defy logic. How can you get the same CCE of tons of lime into a few gallons of product. Most of what I’ve read states that, at best, there is a brief bump in pH but it only lasts a few weeks tops. Between the expense and the short duration of effect, I can’t see why it would be anyone’s choice. If I can get a sprayer to a plot I can get bagged lime to a plot.

It amazes me how stupid the thousands of American Farmers, spending billions of dollars prepping millions of acres, don't use this stuff. (Sarcasm font firmly on). If it's so great, and obviously cheaper and quicker per acre, why isn't it now the standard??

So here's what I found out after more research into the DeerGro Plot Start "liquid lime" product that I was talking about in my previous post. I was incorrect in saying it raises your PH 1 point. It does NOT change your PH. It has zero lime in it. What it does is add calcium to your soil. From what I have learned, calcium is the vehicle that gets the nutrients to your plants. So this is basically a calcium fertilizer that will not change the PH, but accomplish the same thing that a higher PH soil would accomplish.

From what I hear about it, it sure does make the grass green, but doesn’t make it grow much at all…

I tried the DeerGro on two fields and saw no difference. I used both the liquid lime and their fertilizer and I got a new sprayer with a mist boom. It all sounds good but I didn't see it.
