Cranks. Runs fine at idle and up to maybe 50% power. Throttle more and it just bogs down. Echo Backpack PB-580T.
I've changed gas. Ran some Startron through it. Changed plug. Exposed carb and sprayed with carb cleaner. No change. Haven't taken carb off yet. I'm not small engine proficient.

Ideas?

Ahhh. I recall vaguely something else a long time ago with spark arrestor issue. Thanks for the tip. Will try that next.

Swapping out the carb for a cheap new one from China is usually very easy. Lots of videos to show you how if the spark arrestor isn't dirty. That will get you a new carb/fuel filter/new gas lines/spark plug etc in those kits for less than $20.00 bucks on Amazon.

Here

$100 says it’s the spark arrestor
Take it out and spray it with brake cleaner or just throw it in the trash.

I’d second the spark arrestor

High speed circuit in the carb is blocked. Hand held small engine carbs are very difficult to clean and get right. This is coming from a professional mechanic. The juice just isn’t worth the squeeze. Replace the carb and it’ll fix it. BUY AN OEM CARB, not chicom. Looks like they’re $45 for that echo.

If not exhaust stopped up. Adjust carb . Many videos on utube for that . Basic adjustment is screw both high a low screws all way in a back 1an 1/2 turn an go from there . Low screw mostly adjust throttle response . High screw for top end rpm.

with regular gas you got to replace the fuel lines and bulb every few years.

Check exhaust screen and take muffler off and check exhaust port. I have seen exhaust ports almost completely blocked before.

Your high jet has a little trash in it. Either brake down the carburetor in soak it in an ultrasonic or replace it.
