Man you looking in the wrong place for a houn. Probably 99.99% of the folks on here are anti deer doggers. Your best bets some of the fb pages.

There is a face book page called South Alabama Deer Dogs for buying and selling. See link below..

I would be careful though. Some folks are probably just getting rid of their junk.

Maybe so, I grew up doggin dear like a lot of folks on here. Just got too hard and I went with Cur dogs for short distance game. Its a great way to hunt if you have the property. Funny but the best deer dog I ever had was a beagle that would jump bucks and burn him up in medium size block. Only thing was you could only hunt him one time because you couldn't catch til dark.

Same here. Some of my best memories were running dogs with my dad.

The best deer dogs are Beagles that are breed for Traditional Brace competition because the just walk slowly and bark a lot they will jump deer and keep them moving around without running them out of the area and you can walk up and catch them when you want to and you don't loose them. Now I know most will not believe that but if you try it you can see for yourself

Beagles are no good where I hunt where sometimes the water is waist deep. I like a running walker crossed with some sort of tree stock dog. About 75/25 seems about right. Too much running dog and the don't have much nose, and I like to track hunt. Too much tree dog and they are bad to get hung up on a cold track and are bad to fight.

We have litters out of a couple of mine now, but they are all promised out.
