I will definitely be following your experiment - last year the the SVB killed every squash/zucchini plant we had. This year I have been injecting BT at the base and every 2" up to 6" (2-cc's per shot) - and so far so good, but if your idea works - it would make my plan MUCH easier. We have a pretty small raised bed garden - about 18 squash/zucchini plants in a couple of the beds.
Please keep us updated on your experiment.

I will definitely be following as well. I've tried just about everything but the SVB kills mine every year. I stopped planting it.

As a follow-up.
perhaps once the squash gets a longer vine - I wonder if it would be worth a try to wrap plastic wrap or aluminum foil (poke pinholes in them) at the top, to close the gap and prevent the SVB from crawling down the vine?

A moth lays eggs on a leaf and then when the caterpillars hatch they eat the leaf and then onto the rest of the plant. I’ll keep an eye out for the eggs if they are big enough to see. I was told the larvae hatches from eggs on the leaf falls to the ground and makes it way to the vine at the top of the ground. I have no idea. The vine borers get me every year.
