Anyone fish the river down there? A Google search didn't yield hardly anything.

Know some guys that do. Lotta shallow spots and log jams so float it in a boat you can drag around and over stuff. It's got decent numbers of bass. Guys I know that fish it fairly regular avg 20-30 a trip, mostly 3/4 to 3 lb fish on avg.

Pretty sure its somewhere in between florala and Andalusia. State forest maybe??? All I know for sure is that they and taking out at the Oak Grove Park Boat Ramp there SW of Laurel Hill. You'll need both AL and FL licenses to do what they are doing as you're fishing about 6-8 miles in Bama and 5-7 miles in FL . I've never done it myself so sorry I dont have more information.

I'll bet that Squeaky can steer you in the right direction of a put in spot. He lives in Andy if I'm not mistaken.

I was on the yellow river a few weeks ago and all I could think about was fishing it.

It's amazing how little information there is about this place. Doesn't help that it's in the middle of nowhere.

I fish it fairly often during the summer. Live about 2 miles from the bridge in wing. Normally use a kayak and put in in national forest, then fish my way down to the bridge In wing. Fishing is normally really good about May and throughout the summer. 1/8th oz spinnerbaits in just about any color will catch a lot of fish. And throw at anything that can block current, even if you can see the bottom and it’s only a foot deep. Have caught some pretty good fish on logs that were in shallow water

I see the launch at the County Road 4 bridge. Assume it's safe to leave a vehicle there for a while? Where's the launch in the forest?

TIA.

ETA: It looks like about 9 miles from the 55 bridge down to the bridge in Wing. Assuming that would be about a 9-10 hour trip. Looks like there is access at the 55 bridge.

Yes, that’s about right on the trip. There are no launches on the forest that I’m aware of. We just normally find a road that goes all the way to the river, then tote the kayaks down to the water. Also, highway 55 is a great place to put in. Just map out a section to fish, and a good takeout point

We will do the 55 to 4 trip. Guess we will stay in Florala, AL. Saw some tiny home VRBOs down there for not much.
