I’ve made a good number of leather goods over the years but this is my first holster. I’m pleased with how it came out, considering it’s my first. Learned a couple lessons that I’ll carry as I make more. I wanted a better rig for mine for Alaska and my dad also needs one for a model 69 that’s he’s borrowing from a friend (the holster I make for that one will go to the owner as a thank you for the loan) If I’m not sick of it by then I may make an IWB for my 642 and a pancake for my 586. I’ll be happy to snap some pics of the process if that’s something you’d all be interested in seeing?

Here’s the rig for my 6” 629

The covered trigger guard is a nice touch. Never cared for the open trigger on many classic revolver holster designs.

Good job. I am curious about how you make the leather mold to the gun geometry.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words!

Ridge Ranger, I’ve always felt the same way. I always figured it was a holdover from single action days but just seemed like an unnecessary risk in a DA holster.

M48, that’s done by wet forming. You make the holster a little snug, soak it in water for about a minute and then you mold it around the gun. When the leather is wet it very pliable and stretchy and is easy to manipulate. once it dries it sets to that shape perfectly.

I’ll take some pics along the way of the next one

great work. Would love a 629 4" barreled with a chest rig for bear country.

Very well done. If you are so inclined I have a 4" 629 that could benefit from a nice holster.

If that is your first, you are a prodigy brother. Can you make a cross draw? That one is just about perfect! Yes, we would love to see the pics.

Started on a holster for my 586 today and been picking away at it in between housework. Should be able to get it finished sometime this week. I’ll make a new thread with pics when I get it finished up.

Great work!

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.
