Thought I’d share my bird from yesterday. He came a long way from across the property line and gobbled the whole way. Honestly didn’t think I had a shot, but he was hot and lonely. He went silent and I was just hoping he was making his move to me. When he gobbled again, he was right in my face just over the ridge crest! Of course he hung up there forever and was making me sweat. A little more sweet talking brought him into the food plot I was set up in and I got to enjoy the strutting show and a few more gobbles until I pulled the trigger. Little did I know he was a red phase until I put my hands on him!

Congratulations!!! I’m not sure where you hunt in Winston County or even if this was a Winston bird? We have quite a few of these copper phased birds around our farm near Natural Bridge

I only know of one like that killed around me and that was 15 years ago. Only one I’ve seen besides yours.

Congrats. I cheated myself out of one like that a couple of years ago. Had two birds come in hot and quick that I wasn’t set up well for. I was blind calling in Hardwoods and they cut me off from 100 yards or less. I dropped up against the nearest tree and popped the first one I got a shot on. Then watched his buddy (the red one)come check him out for a few minutes then wander off.
