I'm against home schooling almost 100% of the homeschooled kids I come into contact with I can tell are stupid just by looking at their parents. Living cheap out in the country and home schooling your kids is not putting your children on a pathway for success. I have direct family who does this so I have first hand experience and I've got a couple nieces and nephews that were almost stupid as a result. Instead I helped them. Both parents are highly educated but unfortunately are lazy in life and didn't want to work hard so they moved from one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Atlanta to the middle of nowhere. Homeschooled their kids lived broke didn't work hard so I guess they achieved THEIR life goals. Not wanting to argue but I was curious about something. These relatives.......What do they do now as far as income goes? Do they draw a check and live off us tax payers? I was just wondering if they were deadbeat moochers or just decided to live a more "simple" life. I know for myself, I would take "middle of nowhere" over the most expensive neighborhood in Atlanta any day. Shoot, you couldn't pay me enough to live in Atlanta.
The true mark of a man is not how he conducts himself during times of prosperity, but how he conducts himself during times of adversity.

Go to WalMart in the middle of the day and you'll find some "homeschooled" kids up there. Look for some kids in a Wolf t-shirt. Look at the Parents. Tell me that's appropriate.
its the middle of the day so he's probably out scouting wally wolfs

For the most part Home school kids are sheltered from the real world and do not function in society very well. Tebo was the exception due to his size and athletic ability. Not your common kid. Auburn-Opelika had a home school football team for a while. Had a stud for a QB. He couldn’t have carried the water bucket for a 2A school. The team went to a 8 man team and has since been disbanded. How many parents out there are qualified to teach beyond kindergarten? I've seen and heard some of these athletes talk after six years of college. I feel like I'm qualified to be an English professor at any university!

Co-op homeschooling is where it's at. We have several of them at church. Very bright and well-mannered kids.

I’d argue that they function better because they’re around more people of different ages, colors, religions. My boys homeschool and I guarantee you wouldn’t know it. As far as qualifications I’m lucky my wife was a teacher but the curriculums available and the support with them is stellar.

How many parents out there are qualified to teach beyond kindergarten? That may be what you have experienced with homeschool kids and I have seen a lot like that but the fact is on-average homeschool kids perform along the exact same averages as schooled kid. Numerous studies have been done and it shows so obvious that the anti-homeschoolers in the government control system cannot argue against it. If you take 1000 homeschooled kids and compare their grades, test scores, non-school activity participation rates (that means being a club or a sport or something), criminality rates, etc... its all the same. They are either good regular kids or they are not, just like any other person. What that data does show though, is that the government cannot do any better than people can without the government. So it further re-enforces that we really do not need government in our daily lives.

Seems that our area has some classes available at public schools including athletics that homeschooling doesn't provide so homeschooled kids get the opportunity to socialize with other students.

I am curious how this goatkiller "works" so much but also has time to sit and play on Aldeer. I work a lot but have 9,000 less post than this joker. Today Ive set out 500 blackberry bushes, 140 blueberry bushes, planted 1 acre of IC peas, 1/2 acre of egyptian wheat. I slept late and here i am at 3:00 in the afternoon on aldeer. You would be amazed how much work a fella can get done and live on aldeer too. You have to be very talented and dedicated though. And have a good signal. My wife and kids helped with the berries.

On another note, what should I spray my plum trees with to keep the worms off and when should I do it.
