What kind of optics would you put on a 10MM pistol for blood tracking purposes?

Do you mean if you are tracking a deer and need to shoot it?
I have a Holosun 407 on my 10MM XDM. It does shake awake and has a solar panel back up. Mine is sighted in right now with Nosler 180 grain ASP ammo. Yes for dispatching the ones that are still alive........Can you shoot yours accurately out to 50-60 yards??

I didn't try that. I have it sighted in pretty close, maybe 10 - 15 yards. What I will say is once you get it dialed in with the sight, its easy to shoot it well. I can't see sights to well without my glasses, so the red dot is definitely beneficial for me. I think if you want to shoot it that far you probably want a full power 10mm load like an Underwood. Maybe the extreme penetrator. I shot 2 deer last year with mine to dispatch them, they were down, but I didn't want them to suffer. Mine is sighted in with Nosler 180gr ASP ammo, and a shot thru the vitals took care of business in short order. This is what it is. https://www.nosler.com/10mm-180gr-jhp-asp-handgun-ammunition-20ct.htmlThe 140gr Underwood extreme penetrator runs 1500 FPS and about 700 Ft-lbs of energy at the muzzle. I shot some of their 150gr JHP ammo, which is a little stouter in terms of energy than the extreme penetrator, and you definitely could tell the difference between it and the Nosler. Their 180 gr offering runs about 150 FPS above the Nosler I shoot, and it might split the difference nicely. i have some of that, but haven't shot it yet. I picked up every box of the Nosler they had at Marks last year because they were selling it for $19.99.

Got a Burris ff3 on mine. Got a vortex venom sitting in a drawer somewhere, i stripped the mounting plate that came with it (probably only 5inch pounds lol) and the NEW one they sent me already had a stripped hole, so i tossed it in the drawer probably 4 or 5 years ago

is the slide already milled? I havent bought it yet......Looking at the S&W Performance 2.0 Have you researched that one? Reason I ask is when I was looking last year, there was alot of issue with the SW 2.0 10mm's, I think with feeding issues. That was the one I wanted, the 4 inch one to be exact, but to many people said they had issues and had sent guns back to SW and still were having issues. I watched alot of Youtubes, that guy Chuke up in Alaska does alot of 10mm pistol testing. He was a G20 fan boy, but seems to have moved over to the XDM now. That is what I got, mainly because it feeds the Buffalo Bore 220 grain hardcast load without issue. I got the gear up thing from PSA on mine, pistol, 6 mags and a bag for $529. Came with a voucher to get the optic mounting plate, which I got in about 2 weeks even though they said to expect 6 to 8. I would be shocked if you shot mine if you didn't like it. Great trigger, accurate, and the mags are easy to load to capacity. My shield 2.0 plus, you can't get more than 11 rounds in the 13 round mag without an uplula.

Hard to beat the Glock, I've got 2. Got one Colt delta in 10 mm, and I'd buy the Ed Brown Kodiak right now ifn it was ready for optics, just don't understand why they don't have it ready for a dot

I gotta get setup better before next year……I’m tired of dragging a rifle around through all the crap we have to walk through…..Definitely not having the hunters carry the weapon anymore after the couple tracks I ended the year on…..At one time I was carrying a .45 but I couldn’t hit chit with it past about 25 yards and had several deer that had to be shot multiple times. I know several trackers that say they really like the 10mm……
I don’t know……I may just have to suck it up and get me some new optics for the old 30-30

In lowlight situations, that red dot will be useless unless your target is at point blank range. I have a Ruger 5.7 w/ Vortex Venom setup for after hours critter control and it took adding a weapon mounted light to get the consistency and accuracy I wanted. Not sure how green jeans would view such a setup though. Might be bad juju
