We just bought a home above Blue Ridge on a lake that borders the Cherokee NF. Are the mountains a good area for them?

sure. just put out feeders with red and yellow on them (i think yellow is a better color attractant ...) there is no need to dye your nectar. make it you ownself with a ratio of one cup of sugar to four cups of water.
