Do you have water in those rear tires? If not that weight will make a big difference in how that tractor pulls that disk.

If that was a Deere, it would not have even throttled up! People get what they pay for. hook that Kabota to one of my big plows and see how long the clutch lasts!

Nothing runs like a Deer! After the week we have had with the tornado cleanup, only tractors that were keeping up were the John Deers! I did see a Mahindra that shocked me with what it could do. The Kubotas were all but useless this week.

Weight makes all the difference. Old tractors are heavier. New ones suck, even deere. Too much plastic and aluminum. Had a 5020 deere one time. Nearest i can remember with the canopy and blade plus water in tires it was close to 15k pounds.
I should have said the kubota did pull it but the turning plow was trying to pull the tractor kind of sideways. Since im new to this turning plow it may be i didnt have it adjusted correctly.

A old JD 3020 was about 70 HP and weighed prolly 7,500 lbs without weights or fluid in the tires. Now JD makes a "compact' tractor, 4075 with 75HP . I don't know what all those horses are good for unless you need them to run something big off PTO. They also make a 3045 which is a overgrown lawn tractor with 45 HP. One would be better served to step up to a lower HP 5 series.

That is a, good looking, heavy plow. I'd like to have one just like it. BTW, there may be a youtube vid or two that demonstrates how to set a plow up like that . Might ask an old timer too.

it dont look adjusted right to me . on level ground right hand side arm should be higher so when you drop off in the row youre level . if it aint adjusted right it pull harder too . pretty much takes two people to set it up right . one needs to see how its running across the field . you get the depth and level right that tractor should be ok ..

setting them up really aint that simple .

That plow looks similiar to one I saw called in to pull behind a dozer used to plow a firelane for a car set on fire in the woods. With the rolling disc they are probably less likely to get caught on stumps or roots. I have used a double chisel turning plow one time behind an 8n and it was just a little too much. Borrowed a little bigger hp MF diesel and that was a game changer. Seems those blades are at a sharp angle, creating more drag. The right sized chisel blow may be your way to go or smaller disc one.

70 HP is about right for that plow
The rule for turning plows is 20 HP per disc
In the pic the disc isn’t adjusted right
You’re too deep on the front disc causing it to dig deeper when you drop in the furrow and this is what is making it bog down

Now I'm asking here , I've never set a turning plow up in my life. I do like to find the easy button . Could you not get on flat ground , drive up on say some 6-8" blocks with the left tires and adjust it to be all level when it touches the ground? Wouldn't that get you at least close and a good starting point?
