What is "a lot" of hours on a compact tractor? I've seen several in the 30-40hp range with less than 1000hrs on them for decent prices.

All depends on what the tractor was used for in the hours put in it and how well it was maintained. 1000 hrs aren’t that many hours if it was taken care of.

That's a good point. I never owned a tractor, but was thinking it would really depend on how well it was maintained. Didn't consider how it was used. I bet that plays a big part as well..

Oh and I was in a subcompact tractor focus group where I looked all 6 different subs. John Deere was hands down fav on my group. I liked the TYM but it was a ringer. Massey and LS got the lowest rating. I rated Kubota 4, because while it was smooth, the treddle pedal sucks, all the other 5 had the same pedal arrangement. Kioti was very nice too.

I've been told that if properly maintained, one of those small diesels will do 5,000 plus hours . Wouldn't cost much to rebuild one either.

Lots of those 30 series tractors running around here. That or maybe a Mahindra would be the only other tractor I’d have if I didn’t have my L3800 Kubota.

I've had no issues with the rocker style pedal on my Kubota MX6000. Same statement on Mom's BX2360, it just works. If I'm running the loader, I just put my foot on top of it and rock to change directions. Mowing or tilling, I drop off the side and just go forward. No way to accidentally back up, it's a deliberate motion.

My kioti has 850 REALLY hard hours on it. Its a little beat up but clicking right on along. 1000hrs really isnt that much if the tractor has been well taken care of

I have a JD 3038e with just under 1K hours that’s been worked like a rented mule and still going strong.
I tried a kubota, but HATED the hydro pedal.

I tried a kubota .........................

I also have one I bought just to haul around and keep different tracts cleaned up, that thing has been a champ. Fresh oil and filters every spring and it is good to go. It has also increased in value!!! I used a Kabota with a cab to cut some hay a few years back a friend owned. I could not wait to get back on a Deere. It is all about what you prefer and Deere has been good to us for over 60 years.

I think 1,000 plus hours on a compact tractor is a lot. I had a grand L 4060 kubota that was a good tractor. The year after it was paid off, it had two main “breakdowns”. King pin seals went out on the front axle and the differential broke in the rear end. It was an excellent tractor but I asked for a lot out of it. Tractor dealers have always told me that a machine is considered new if it has less than 1,000 hours. With used equipment prices like they are, I would consider new.

It be's that way sometimes.
