Anyone own one? If so, what’s your thoughts? I’m not interested in buying one but reading up on them, honestly, I don’t get it. The Toyota Sequoias are only available in a hybrid and have been since 2023. Even with a hybrid, they only show 21-23 mpg. Add to that the replacement cost for the hybrid battery ranges from $2k-$8k. And needs replaced in 8-10 years, and I just don’t see why anyone would want one. What am I missing?
If voting made any difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.-Mark Twain

Wife has a 2023 Accord hybrid. It gets 42ish mpg on average. Came with a 7 year 120k mile warranty on the hybrid system which includes the batteries. I actually like it. It's not like the older ones that only used the electric motor under 20 mph. It's very similar to GMs DOD in a low load situation it will swap to the electric motor and if load increases it will go back to the gas motor and it is pretty much unnoticeable when it swaps

Toyotas hybrid in sequoia and Tundra only drives the truck under 20mph or 25 and is more for torque than fuel savings.

They wouldn’t be worried about low end torque if they hadn’t done away with the V8

They wouldn’t be worried about low end torque if they hadn’t done away with the V8 Truth. Same for the Tacoma. The hey are going to screw up the 4Runner in 2025 and get rid of the tried and true 4.0 v6 in exchange for a 2.4 boosted 4 cylinder.

wife has a 24' Toyota Rav4 hybrid. I think it gets in the 40mpg range, good pickup, steering is a lil tight. Interior not made for a big guy(like me). low speed feels like driving an electric golf cart.

I’m heavily considering a new 5thGen Prius for my next car. This new generation looks really good in my opinion. 55MPG, major bump in HP over previous generations to now 195HP, can be had for low $30Kish. The Prius has had 20 years of refining and tinkering

Wife has a hybrid Toyota Sienna. I want to say about 28mpg? It’s a company car, so it’s free, but I wouldn’t pay for it

I wish Prius has a different name. I lose even the slightest bit of consideration the second I hear it said. Sounds too much like Purse.

It does kick in above 60 when cruising, but it isn't a regen electric motor with gas assist...more the opposite.
experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

I had a new Prius as a rental this week. 53MPG on a trip to Nashville. It only used 8 gallons of gas on the trip. Had a new Prius as rental last weekend--drove 450miles, used 7.8 gallons. Had good acceleration compared to old Prius models. But low to the ground and very hard to get in and out of. But impressive MPG anyhow. I'd buy a hybrid car. Probably only a Toyota or Honda though.

Know how we know dudes are gay, they drive a Prius If I end up getting a Prius I’ll be certain to get this sticker https://www.ebay.com/itm/1845634696...r=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPYEventually my K5 will be sporting a cammed LS engine, I need the worn out 305 to Grenade first though I want efficient/reliable for my daily driver and badass for my weekend. The Previous generation Prius’s are absolutely ugly and gutless, this 5th Gen on the other hand.

My son has a Subaru Crosstrek. Loves it. Gets 27/34 all gas. He put a cargo carrier on the top and inspects from it. Carries an 18' little giant style ladder inside easily. He's exceptionally please with his. He drove them in Alaska and they handled the snow and ice like a boss. Says he missed the interior space from his truck on the driver side, but otherwise he's pleased. He's 6'5". I'm pretty sure your wife won't have that issue. With the kids out of the house, that might be a good choice. Click

Buddy of mine bought a new Toyota Rav4 Hybrid for his wife a month or two ago.
I talked to him yesterday about it. He and his wife like it a lot. Averaging about 39 mpg and it's AWD.
Thing sounds kinda weird when backing up. He said it only does that when backing only using electric power. I think he said it's a requirement that they make noise when they're moving.
