That ain’t a rafter but I think you’ve got it fixed. What would that 2x4 that I fixed be considered? I’m not a framer or engineer, rafter was my assumption

I’m not a framer or engineer, rafter was my assumption Hard to tell in that pic , if it's old school stick built it's part of the wind beam bracing. If it's trusses it's part of the web. Either way , you got it . Looks like that board had a knot or some imperfection midway of the split.

That ain’t a rafter but I think you’ve got it fixed. Right. It's a compression post in a truss. It is in compression and the diagonals on either side are in tension.

A good constitution adhesive and zig zag the screws This. Freedom constitution adhesive is a damn good product. 1776 makes a good product as well.

When we stick built in the 80s we called it strongback and the pig trough was where it connected to the joist. 🤷♂️
