He said last week that it was that and the way these entitled kids act was his main reason for retiring.. Said basically 80 percent of the Alabama team ask him about playing time year and money after they lost the playoff game.

I could put up with it for at least a couple years for $10 mil a year. First thing I’d do is move Milroe to scout team QB, unless he was willing to transition to RB, and make CNC cry. rofl

In all seriousness, you can’t blame Saban, he spent his entire coaching career building a dominant system/program that few could replicate. It might as well have been patented as a recipe for football success. Then they changed the rules and the game and it was immediately made obsolete. He’s still the GOAT and his dominance will never be matched.

He is Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo full of chit.

Dude made MILLIONs of the backs of these kids. Now that they have open competition he runs like a limp wristed bitch. Take your ass to high school and coach Nick. Go be pure, far away from the under the table payments of the REC.

Seriously. I had started to respect him (truth), but this makes me realize what a scum bag he always was.

Well let’s be honest Burbank, it wasn’t just Alabama playing that game of under the table (cam). I do believe what he says is the open truth, and now the game is ruined. Why even have coaches at this point? It’s the same crap that’s been going on in the nfl.

The game isn't ruined, it's just changed. Saban couldn't win in the NFL, and he knew his college dominance was over with NIL. Everybody acts like the NFL is putting a chit product on the field because players are being paid. That couldn't be further from the truth, and now college teams have to adapt and learn how to succeed in this new environment.

This is what you took away from this article? I really just thought you were a troll, but you really are legally retarded. .

Trust me, this is not for Alabama’s sake. I truly believe you think that, but it’s not.
He said he’s not against NIL. He didn’t miss a beat when it was enacted. Trust me, the Auburn’s of the world will benefit more for what he’s asking them to legislate than the Alabama’s. Your UAB football team will cease to exist.

I guarantee if this was Tubbs on the stand, you would be telling what a noble cause this was, and I’d be right there with you. If you can’t see how this unregulated approach is shaping out, and how it will ruin much of college athletics, then I don’t know if you’ll ever get it. For anything to function properly, there has to be some resemblance of rules and parameters.

You stated Saban made millions off these kids backs. True, every coach does. Every University does. Have you ever thought about how much value he’s created for a large portion of his players? I’m not talking just NFL revenue either. The number would be astonishing.

You may be singing a different tune when the Cam Coleman’s of the world decide to take a pay hike and go to Georgia, Bama, TN, FSU in 2025-26. He’s going to go to the highest bidder. He will not finish at Auburn. Book it! I think that’s a travesty, but you’re all for it, so be it.

Saban thrived when he ruled with an iron fist. He was always a control freak and that worked. These spoiled brats today want instant gratification and don't won't to put In time or effort. This isn't just sports it's most kids these days. They want what older people have and worked years to get!

I'll agree with that about the younger generation, but these football players actually have a case. They have a very short career window of 10-15 years max with the opportunity to earn generational wealth, so of course they want instant gratification. They're putting millions of dollars in the university's pockets, and I don't see why everyone has a problem with them being paid for their services. They are the ones putting their body and lives on the line, and a career ending play could always happen the next snap. Let' s not act like swapping a college degree in basket weaving was a true payment for what they were producing. The education is useless to them, and honestly, I don't even think they should have to go to class.

One of my favorite takes: “if this was blah blah blah you would have a different opinion”

No.

The game has changed. It needs guard rails for NIL and mainly for the portal IMO.

The NIL genie is not going back in the bottle. Again, Saban sits there saying “I can’t do what I’ve done for the last 50 years”. Complete bullshot. His value? It’s was getting kids to the NFL. He could STILL be doing that if he wanted.

Oh, and the Auburn NIL program is just fine. I would say the most robust in the state…

He basically said "F them kids"

Kids don't care about development and integrity anymore. It's all about fame and money.

It’s been that way since the dawn of time. We just now get to see it.

Prior to NIL, when kids wanted more money it would go via certain assistants to the bagmen. It wasn’t being talked about in the open. Now it is in the open. To me, the bigger issue is the portal.
