Damnit. I know a thing or three about how the Indians used and ate darters and small minnows. If you like sardines, tell me this don't sound good. I might try it with Sardines one day, but I have been saying that for 20 years.
They used to be so plentiful that Indians could scoop them right out of the water in a cup, press them between big green leaves just enough to push the guts out of them, then wash the mess off. After that they would give the minnows a quick dusting of cornmeal, then flash frying them in a basting of chestnut oil and eat them like a taco or burrito in a hand ground corn tortilla. You must've had your own Black Tea ceremony to get that information. No. It started with a turd. A very well described turd that was 1500 years old.
