What's your heaviest you've seen or witnessed after the kill? My Biggest is 19 pounds. About 25 years ago on thanksgiving Day in Covington County I did a Lil Tree Yelp and had a Yelp come back. 4 longboards of average size and a Jake pitched down in front of me along with a BIG DADDY. BiG Daddy quickly left the group and got behind a knoll and I couldn't get a shot at him. Picked out one of the others and killed him....17.5 pounds weighed. In Comparison.....BIG DADDY had to have weighed a good 25 pounds.....his head looked the size of a Baseball!! Only Turkey I've ever killed in the Fall.....X-Wifes' Daddy had 180 acres about 4 miles North of Florala fronting Hwy. 331. Was kind of Neat to kill one on Thanksgiving Day. Was actually squirrel hunting but figured I'd give it a try first as I had seen some Scratchings in that 8 acre patch of Oaks.....

A buddy called one up in MS this morning for a youth that weighed 20lbs. I’ve never killed one that big. All mine have been 17-19 pounds. I can believe it.....You wouldn't think they would weigh that much after Scrapping for Food during late Winter. They must not feed much on into the Spring and loose weight looking for Hens.....Who Knows?

I’ve killed a bunch over 20# according to my little digital turkey tote (I guess it could be inaccurate). I’ve killed a 26 lber in Illinois and a 23 lber in Tennessee. My biggest in Alabama is 22 lbs. I killed a 24 lb Osceola in St. Cloud. My Osceola was mounted by Mike Mizelle at Blackwings taxidermy and at the time, he said it was the biggest Osceola he had ever seen and he mounts a bunch.

25 lbs in Iowa. Might have killed one heavier, but didn’t have scales with me.

this may be an “old wives tale” but i had an old timer tell me that the original Alabama eastern wild turkeys were scroney, mean birds 🤣 an 18 lb bird was a heavy, “big” gobbler supposedly 🤷🏻♂️

18 pounds is heavy n bama. 22.5 i think is heaviest for me in bama. Out of state - hav killed 27 pound in Kansas and a 26 and a few 25 pounders n mizzo. Better climate and food up north - much bigger birds

We used to have to go to the check-in station, so Ive seen a lot of birds get weighed in the past. I havnt weighed many in several years though. Biggest Ive heard of is my dad shot a 30lb bird years ago with 5 beards. Ive shot several birds that were over 25, but only 3 birds were 26lbs Our average birds are 22 to 24 lbs. Ive killed way more over 24 than under 20. My first bird I killed in alabama was in that range and I thought that was the norm. But, over the next few years I realized he was a big bird for alabama.

I killed a 22# Osceola near Lake Ocochobee
22 or 23 # best alabama Eastern, but I have killed a bunch right at 20lbs over the years, usually one that size each year.
I also killed 12.5# Eastern in Greene Co, grown gobbler with a 10 1/4 inch beard, 3/4 spurs.. Not skinny, just midget sized.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I don’t know how true it is but had an old timer tell me that 12 pounder probably has the original strain of bama turkeys before others introduced. Said they were mature but smaller weight wise. He had killed a few like that over the years.
