I can see nobody that has posted has any connection into the pharmacy side of things. This has been a much needed thing and we aren’t set to make big bucks off this. Between insurance reimbursements and copays we lose money on a large number of prescriptions every day. A lot of independent pharmacies have already closed over this issue and the trend will continue if nothing is done. Pretty soon you will have to rely on the chains and you won’t get the customer service you would get from someone like me or CAL. How is this going to help anyone but the state…..? The bill will require pharmacy benefit managers to pay the pharmacies for the actual cost of the medication plus a dispensing fee. I work at an independent pharmacy so this will affect us… Exactly, this is NOT a tax and is much needed reform of the PBMs.
