Garland, while in Selma today, said the Selma Police attacked marchers on Bloody Sunday. I've corrected so many people on this while working the Jubilee. I guess if I was still working I'd be correcting the US Attorney General and the reporter that wrote the below quote from an article
The Selma Police did not attack the marchers. They escorted them through town because Joe Smitherman was smart enough to know that if something happened he didn't want Selma to get a Black Eye, which it did anyways. The truth is that as soon as the marchers were out of the City limits, they were set upon by the Alabama State Troopers and Dallas County Sheriffs Dept.
It isn't that Smitherman wasn't a segregationist, because he was, but he simply knew that whatever was going to happen he didn't want it happening in Selma. Oh well.
Garland, alongside Vice President Kamala Harris, visited the historic city to mark the 59th anniversary of the 1965 event known as "Bloody Sunday," in which Selma police officers attacked demonstrators marching across the Edmund Pettus Bridge as part of a broader African American civil rights movement. Speaking at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Garland touched on the ways in which "the right to vote is still under attack."
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

They built some pyramids. I believe they had alien help but either way, that's a feat. There's a lot of fine doctors, lawyers and highly educated blacks.
