Haven’t posted here in awhile so I thought I would share the meal I cooked tonight. I fixed some seafood gumbo on Saturday for our small group meal on Sunday night. Turned out pretty good so I took the leftover and let it thicken up some. Made some thick grits and let them get cold. Then I made a couple of patties out of the grits. Fried the patties in a skillet with butter. Then poured the thick gumbo over the fried grits. It was really delicious. Definitely what I will do with leftover gumbo from now on.

Can I come for leftovers? you could pour that in the floor & I'd lap it up. Looks dang fine.

I always have claws in my seafood gumbo. Helps with the flavor to me. Maybe it’s just in my head.

Sometimes I’ll put a crab split and cleaned in there too and just let it soak while it simmers.

Looks great. I do think the shells add flavor.

The seafood capital of Alabama. Bayou La Batre.

But all the supermarkets around here have em. Not sure if they do that in alabaster.

I have used canned claw meat and canned lump before too. It’s not bad with that. I could barely tell the difference honestly. Usually it’s still $20-25 dollars a can so it’s not really cheaper to use it so I just use fresh.

Between the crab claws, claw meat and lump meat, you can easily have $75 just in crab meat. By the time you add shrimp and all the good stuff I will usually be around $110 a pot. That pot will feed a dozen people though.
