Irish, you should check out the DeKalb Rifles. Their meetings are a lot of fun and they eat really good. May do it. Thanks for the tip.

I’m surprised he made it out of Horseshoe Bend alive. The stories go that the river was red from blood that day. That place is very eerie. I’ve been in there numerous times in the day and the silence is deafening. You won’t hear a bird. You won’t hear a squirrel. All you can hear is the wind whistling past your ears.
If you think Horseshoe Bend is eerie you should visit Shiloh. Stand where Ruggles battery was and walk across the field to the Hornet's Nest stand where the Union Soldiers made their stand. Lean on the tree where General Albert Sidney Johnston died from blood loss. Meditate for a moment at Bloody Pond where the dying soldiers crawled to get just a sip of water before they died... You can feel the spirts of the men who died those 3 days. It is a sobering place. They say the peach trees were in full bloom and so many shots were fired that the petals from the flowers rained down like snow flakes. "You can't raise the cane back up when it's in the fields..."

If anyone up this way in north al an have nothing to do please go spend day at Shiloh . It’s just fews miles across state near Savannah tn. I live 30 minutes away an been there many times . It’s a sacred place for sure . My great grandfather was captured there at spent yr in yankee prison. Shiloh is a place where you cannot fathom what really happened there. Ancestors that lived here during that time told they could hear cannons from where i live . It’s just weird feeling walk around that place an try to imagine the agony the soldiers suffered on both sides.
