It just hit me that I haven’t seen a rabbit this year

I remember in the 80’s seeing several hundred riding country roads at night

This can’t be a good thing

We’re covered up with them. Enough so that I’m going to have to build some rabbit boxes.

I was gifted a pair of registered miniature beagle puppies when I was 15 from
an elderly family friend with terminal cancer diagnosis

They turned into the best rabbit dogs around

I hunted a lot. 3 or 4 afternoons a week after school then all day on weekends

People started calling wanting to buy them for big money back in those days. These were
grown men that rabbit hunted a lot

I came home from school one day and they had been stolen and they closed the kennel
gate when they left

I remember killing 35 rabbits before lunch on a hunt in 1982

I miss those days

Hawks are plentiful these days.

Loaded with rabbits and this year, with quail too for that matter. We've always had a few birds but we've got at least 4 separate, big coveys this year.

We have plenty of rabbits where the habitat is suited for them. Do you have suitable habitat for rabbits? This should be your first question you ask yourself when you begin to see reduced numbers of a species.

If you got pines 2-10 years old, you got rabbits. I’ve yet to see one yet that didn’t and I’ve done A LOT of rabbit hunting

Alabama Swamper you do a lot of rabbit listening and rabbit shooting, hunting involves walking in briar patches. And that sir u are lacking in. I’ve got the briars embedded in my hands, head, and legs for proof.

We're blessed this year for sure! Every field you go to it's like rabbit porn, 10 of em just running and humping 🤣 Reckon they happy cause we done got rid of 2 monster cats (working on other critters too) 😄

Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

Hayden hasn’t seen a deer all year. Or a rabbit for that matter.

I don't think they come out or stay in open areas like they used to here in chambers county. I might see 4 a year on the roads. We do have a LOT of 'Yotes. Sure do miss riding the field edges with a spotlight and a .22......along with plenty of Cole Beers!!!
