I do love the on game performance of the 120 grain NBTs out of my 7-08. They seem to really punch above their weight class.

Yeah the 115 noslers i shoot in my 257wbymag pulverizes buck deers! SPEED KILLS šŸ˜

Unfortunately that's a completely different caliber and has nothing to do with this.... the 115 Nosler is considered heavy for that caliber the heaviest is a 120 grain.

Speed does kill.... but 6.5 Manbun is slow. My 257 WBY shoots about 3400fps with a 115. That's not apples and oranges that's apples and cucumbers.

The most accurate bullet out of all the deer calibers? Either this is just joking, which I didn't pick up on, but maybe it is indeed a joke. But this statement is just plain ignorant.

how does the 6.5 CM stack up against the 308? I read a long article one time that was way over my head, but from what I gathered. The 6.5 was only slightly better than the 308.

THIS! CM shooters are the cross-fitters of the deer hunting world. I don't give a rat's butt if you kill your deer with a claw hammer, but if you feel the need to "silence the haters" every time you shoot your gun, you already know it's underwhelming.

A deer won't know the difference if you put a good bullet in the right spot from either gun.

This ^^^^.

Headstamps donā€™t matter.

Bullet construction + shot location + adequate velocity for bullet expansion = desired results/dead critters

I think you see more talk from creed shooters on various Facebook pages and the hate for them follows.
I do not recall many threads here about the unbelievable killing machine that is a Creed

I do not own a 6.5cm, However I have a 6.5-300 Weatherby and it is a laser beam with Barnes bullets. Would not think twice to shoot an elk with it.

As long as you are shooting 140's you are still allowed to have a penis.

Dang. I think my 7mm-08s are 139s

I know. Ive been shooting 130s out of my 270. Luckily Ive been married for a long time and no longer need a penis.

When I hunted religiously with my 7mm mag, that was my mindset. Just hit it in the general area of the shoulder and itā€™s going down. With my 308 itā€™s about better shot placement with damn good ammo.

".308 is better." Why stop there? What about .300 Win Mag? 7.82 warbird? .416 Rigby? They might be more effective at long range or larger game, but hand any of them to a small frame person on a light rifle and watch him/her learn to flinch.
The long-for-caliber 6.5 family has been a no-fuss, efficient combo for 130 years, since the Swedes put together the 6.5 x 55, for everything for men to brown bears. About 70 years later, the long range crowd worked up the .260 as a very stable, effective, efficient target or deer load, and the rest is history. To each his own, but I'm with the OP. I'd almost stretch a point, with modern ammo, and include the .243//6mm, and go up to the 7./08, but certainly the whole 6.5/08 family are pretty much foolproof on a 200 lb whitetail.
Just checked the ballistics on the 6.5 Creed at 300. Roughly 1,600 foot-pounds. Anybody loosing deer at those ranges, the best fix might be......3 bricks of .22 LR and some range time. Just sayin.

There's always been arguments against certain cartridges that never made sense to me.

The 6.5 Creedmoor gets a bad rap, but I've never heard anything bad about the 260 Remington and folks love the 6.5x55 and even shoot moose with them in Sweden The 243 also gets picked on, but the few folks I know that shoot a 6mm Remington stack deer up with them. Heck, I've been thoroughly impressed by the 223 with the right bullet. If you say that out loud though, you might as well be talking bad about somebody's momma.

I think as long as you pick a bullet that's designed for the velocity of the cartridge you're using it in, it's more the Indian than the arrow.
