I don't go to subway because of the tip thing. I don’t go to Subway because it’s terrible. Im not going to complain. We have a Mcdonalds and a Subway as fast food options and a local tavern that closes way too early. Drive another 15 miles and dairy queen and some sit downs that close early. Point is, we eat subway quite a bit and the only thing I mind is that it has become too expensive.

I don't go to subway because of the tip thing. I don’t go to Subway because it’s terrible. X2. It's amazing that a place that specializes in making sammiches SUX at making sammiches.

Got to be careful with this at fast food type places. Generally you pay before your food is ready.
I was the 5 guys burgers in Foley about a year ago and declined the tip…mainly because the staff was snobbish to a couple of the customers ahead of me. Food order had been placed at this point, but had not been brought out front yet. As soon as I declined and was paying, cashier called back over the mic “low cheese” and guy from the back hollered back “got it”. I just stopped and stared at her intently for a few seconds…she knew that I knew. Transaction had already cleared at this point so I just took the burger dropped in trash as I left.
I’ll never step foot in another 5 guys and now try to avoid any fast food style establishment that asks for tips. You can watch em cook your food in five guys 🤔 You saying they brought ya some fromunda cheese from the back? 🤣

What is the deal with fast food restaurants soliciting tips? I've noticed at our local subway there is an option to place a tip when paying by card. I just picked up pizza at Papa Johns. We ordered and paid online. I walk in to pick up our order and the guy checking me out handed me the credit card receipt to sign and tells me "there is a place on there for a tip if you would like to give one". I have never tipped at either place before. I wanted to ask him why a tip would be indicated. I always tip well at restaurants as long as the service is decent. Am I the a-hole for not tipping at the mentioned establishments?? If you are, I am too.
