Just got done hunting just east of cedar creek area around Sardis, seen some deer in Dallas county, figured they’d be turned on but weather had it slow where I was at , have a chance to come back last week of season feb 7-10, wondering if the rut will be goin on and if it be a good time, didn’t see any scrapes this trip so who knows , just wonderin if anybody has experience in that area that time of year

I haven't hunted down there in several years, but when i did it was the first few seasons when season got extended into February and i know the guys i was hunting with didn't see a big uptick in killing bucks in February on there place. They are located on Cedar Creek. I hunted pretty regular, but as a guest as I helped them plant and do stand maintenance. They didn't allow guest after MLK day so i never got to hunt there true rut, but i did see some rutting activity when i got to hunt MLK weekend.

Cedar creek area is usually hot around the 25th on January. Or at least it was every time I hunted there over the years.

I was at Pleasant Hill/Minter area, just S and E of you. It wasn't really turned on there, either. We generally expect it to be busy MLK and the next week or 2. Seems like it's a little behind this year.

Used to hunt cedar creek farm back in the day and the rut used to get cranked around mlk day and was really going strong on Jan 31st. This was before the extension

We all thought the Feb extension was going to change things. To tell the truth, the height of the rut seems to be MLK and the next week or so. Some years may be a little later, but I don't think we've done much better with big bucks since the expansion of the season. We've been hunting this farm for 40+ years.
