Gonna go down to my preachers wood shop in a couple weeks. We gonna make a day of some wood working on his lathes and machines.
Plan on making several strikers out of various types of wood.. I know from my experiences that there are many of combinations, but what types of wood do y’all fancy, as your striker?

Hickory, Purple Heart, dymondwood, black locust, snake wood, frogwood, persimmon, bocote, and I really like heavy hickory with a carbon tip. None of these in any particular order. I’ll think of a few more probably.

Dymondwood is probably the most versatile on any surface. I especially like it on aluminum.

Black locust or purple heart on slate.

Mac ebony or tulipwood on glass.

Those are my go to's anyway

Also hard maple, cherry, osage, bubinga, white oak and pecan make nice strikers

Purple Heart sounds great and holds a soft grain to me. I’ll cut with graphite or carbon I keep a few strikers in my vest though. Some mornings things sound different I guess

Tulipwood is number 1 without question. I like a heavy striker for metal calls like pink ivory

take your kids hunting and you won't be hunting your kids
