The wind swirls all the time. I put up a tempest weather station and yes, there is a consistent direction most of the time, but it swirls constantly all thru the day.

8 racked buck and 9 does from daylight until 9:45 this morning. . No 4 year old bucks walking.
I did notice there were more single does than we have been seeing. maybe they are pushing off yearlings in anticipation of estrus. Dis have a big three year old rake several trees on a fence line and make two scrapes. Had couple younger bucks spar a few minutes.

Well he didn’t go hunting but Stephen killed a 3 yr old 6pt. I jumped him bedded with a doe walking home. Stephen just happened to have let Riggs out and was peeing beside the house and saw him following the doe. I got home and we talked about what happened on both our ends and went in the house. I changed and was in the kitchen eating something when I saw him come off the hill behind the house and into the holler. I told Stephen to grab his gun and he ran out the house. A spike came off the hill following him so I told him to run and get around them. A few minutes later I heard him shoot and he had broken him down and he finished him when I got there. Two yrs in a row we have killed deer while not sitting in a stand within days of each other.

Awesome Turkey Neck - congrats. Great buck Mansfield - congrats

Hallb i hav religiously tracked wind for 30 plus years with hunting!! This is by far the worst swirling i hav ever dealt with. Here is what i know without exception. When my weather app says it will swirl late evening - its 100% accurate. So what happens 100% of time when i go knowing this? Thats right - i get snorted because it swirled which would make me an ignoramous if i knowingly go on those days. Snorting almost exclusively leads to hunt fail. In years past - if i got 4-5 swirls n 4 weeks - that's a lot. This year in 14 days stretches (i check 14 day forecast) i only getting like 2-3 days are the most no Swirl i been getting all season. You may or may not get that - our wind will likely not b same

Good luck and carry on

Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self

He actually is bigger in person than he looked in photos. 169# minus the head at the processor so a decent size deer for here. He dang sure ain’t Mansfields size but we don’t have one that is this year.

Saw about 25 today and only 5 of those were bucks. Basket 5’a and 6’s bumping doe all day long hunting in Dallas county. We must have sen 50+ between the 3 of us so it was fun. No shooters though. It’s about to bust wide open in the next week I believe.
Congrats to the killers today. Nice job!
