I would not think about going hunting without an orange hat on. I still can't figure out why game wardens don't wear them. Are they just risking their life for the sake of a dang glorified goat?

What if I'm wearing an orange beanie with no bill? Same size as an orange hat with a brown bill. Both are over the 144 sq-in requirement and both are solid orange in all directions. Do I still get that ticket?

Just because he wears the green jeans doesn't mean he's right...

Let me ask you a question, why put on a bunch of camo if youre gona put a "im right here" sign right on top? Now tell me how deer cant see it. Then why not buy you a hunters orange suit to wear? I generally hunt in a shooting house in jeans and a dark jacket, or whatever i wore to work. But if i was out in the woods trying to blend in, i dang sure wouldnt haveon a bright orange hat."hey green jeans, right here i am".Its like yal listen to every word they say and make their job as easy as possible. Guess what, if they cant find you, they cant give you a ticket. Me and a boy was way out in the woods coon hunting one night. We shot up a box of shells at a coon stuck in a fork. Somebody called greenjeans i reckon. We saw his flashlight way beforehe saw us. We laid down and covered up with leaves. He walked right by us, within 20ft i guess. Too bad we didnt have that orange hat on, huh? Whn he got out of sight, we took off.

I wear a balaclava orange and a cheap mesh vest. Was told by a game warden I looked like an half orange Bigfoot. I won't repeat what I said back.

Well I do not wear a "bunch" of camo. Just wear jeans and the same shirt and jacket I do around the house. As to what colors deer can or can not see, well I really do not know. Do not know any deer have ever been spooked by what I was wearing as much as they do by scent, sound and movement. Is the a reg. that you have to wear an orange cap when coon hunting? Both hats and caps fall within the category of headgear and headwear accessories. However, all hats have brims and shaped crowns, whereas a cap is less structured, and doesn't have a brim, but is never without a peak or visor. Do not know many folks who still wear a hat.

yer local man needs to READ the actual regulation. Small logo is permitted.

I guess that depends on what his interpretation of small is. A wise and prudent GW would get the District Judge's interpretation before wasting the state's ink.

Ive read deer can see reds and yellows, i think. Theyre color blind. I was jyst messing with you but think about guys who spend $1000 on a detailed camo hunting suit so theyll look just like a tree, then put a bright orange hat on their head. That just seems a little silly to me. I cant remember what we wore coon hunting to be honest. We went all year around. Didnt pay much attention to the rule book. I dont reckon we ever hurt anything. Theres still plenty of coons around here.

The regulation used to read that a small logo was allowed. It doesn’t appear to read that way now. I figure it depends on the warden you encounter.

The DNCR has a website dedicated to specifically addressing the question. The short answer is "No" an orange hat with a brown bill would not meet the requirement. https://www.outdooralabama.com/HunterOrange

Additionally, they are enforcing the same hunter orange requirement on bow hunters on the WMAs now. I talked to a game warden about it last week. It's also consistent with what is on the site. The game warden acknowledge it is a change, but is required for bow hunters just on WMAs now.

That would suck. I've been scoped down there on our leases by piddlers. I scope back. Most public land incidents for me are areas where there's literally thousands of public acres and no hunt clubs-very few small leases.

yes you are right according to rule you can have a small logo on hat , but who determines what small is. thats why he said just be on safe side and have a plain orange hat. kinda like the old baiting rule about not hunting in the area of bait...before they defined area.
