The 37 is designed to fire like the 1897, by holding the trigger down and racking the next shell. (Both John Browning designs) I'm fairly sure the Model 12 likewise. The 870 and Mossberg are won't fire the same way. If they do, then something is broken. I've turkey hunted with a '97 for years, and I cringe as I rack in a shell every morning. The sear/hammer connection on that design will eventually wear out, and it WILL, one day, slam fire without a finger on the trigger. Some of the very early model 12s would.
