If you are willing to order and pay secondary prices then Weller 107. Liquor store standard walk in old Ezra 7 and an old forester 1910.

I'd rather have a variety of different bourbons that one really expensive one. But that's me.

1. Bookers.
2. TX blended Whiskey
3. Four Roses
4. Horse Soldier
5. Woodford Reserve

Those are all good drinks and he will get more out of it than one bottle of expensive. Just my humble opinion.

Lotta good bourbon out there. Once you get to about $40, it comes down to personal preference imo. Currently sipping on Woodford but will have a finger or two of Four Roses small batch and Russell’s before I go to sleep.

If you haven't , try Four Roses Small Batch Select. Bottle looks like Small Batch but has a black label. Good stuff.

Yep, the small batch select is excellent but more than I like to spend for a regular sipper. My daily drinks are $30-$45.

20 pages easy

Taking price completely out of the equation I guess I could afford to drink 90% of the bourbons available
I chose based on flavor, consistency from bottle to bottle and smoothness and even at that 10 people would give 12 answers
1 Knob Creek.
2 Evan Williams Black ( usual choice)
3 Jim Beam Devils cut
4 Early Times
5 4 Roses single Barrel
6 Clyde Mays
7 Heavenly Hill ( the cheap one)
8 Wild Turkey 101
9 Jeffersons
10 Jim Beam

Evan Williams bottled in bond. Wild Turkey 101. Buy a handle of both and not even be $100 in

The trick if you are just now buying for Christmas is several of those mentioned above are of limited availability. At least on the primary, retail price market. If you have an insight into what he likes that will help. Bourbon is not just bourbon. It’s nuanced. But, if I’m giving some as a gift to someone whose preferences I don’t already know: Blantons is high on the list. Larceny, Makers 46, Wild Turkey Rare Breed, and Woodford are also on the list. Aside from Blantons, these are available, affordable, generally palatable to most, and can be enjoyed neat as well as mixed.
