For the folks who hang them on the scales……what’s the average doe weight for the property you hunt??.....I’m talking about live weight on grown does 3 ½ years and older......if you dont care to, also include the county with your answer.

I’ll start it off. Our weights vary from as low as around 88 lbs to as high as 150+. We’ve killed quite a few in the 142-152 weight range through the years. Our annual average though hovers around 110-118 depending on the year. We usually kill 30-40 a year and last year was 112 as an average. Forgot west Fayette Co

Idk about alabama…but..i took dead weight on every deer we killed in texas…a gutted doe..not a doe fawn..at least a yearling..weighed 65-101lbs gutted. I may have weighed some heavier ones but not bh much…we killed does 7yo+ and i recall very few ever busting 110lbs gutted..but i thik we did have some in the teens..now granted..its texas..and our live weight on a 5yo buck might not go but 215 on a reasonably heavy deer. Fawns almost always weighed 30-45lbs…if a small deer came in with a dead weight in that range..it was a fawn every single time. The heaviest deer j ever weighed was a 5.5yo 10pt that scored 154…we had probly 10 4.5-7.5 yo deer hangin in the chop house at the time..all trophy deer and gutted, all weighed around 160-175…the 10 weighed 198lbs with the guts out..I weighed his guts and they weighed around 45lbs..soo..250lb deer…that deer was killed off 2000 acres with 20 known feed stations and about 30 different camera traps..first tim i seen him was when we jumped him and my hunter shot him running theough black brush mots..it was a 7-08 blr..and ill never forget it..he made an impressive shot..some hide better than others.

Id say that was a couple hundred deer a season also..our sister ranch had about the same results..and they kill twice that or better every season

Never weighed one live weight , always gutted. Ours are in the 75 lb +/- range on average , my son killed one several years ago that was 112 best I remember. Remember, those are FD weights

I’m not sure you’ll get any consistency. I’ve seen the range a good bit at the club back in the day. Still see it. Another thing I’ve noticed is deer come in all sizes despite age. Maybe it’s a genetic/subspecies deal and considering it’s Alabama there numerous subsets.
A better way to gauge herd health was explained in a recent video on YouTube.

This is going to vary widely, and I bet there’s not many who have consistently weighed does on actual scales. I struggled getting people to actually weigh does. They only wanted to weigh bucks and would “eyeball weigh” does quite often. 😂 Seems like doe weights would probably be more important to look at......I'd imagine buck weights can be highly variable.

Your initial query is for mature does. If the average club were to weigh all does taken then I would definitely expect a wide range of weights being so much growth potential from 5 months to 18 months and so on. So it really is important to only select the weights of same age class does for comparison. From a management standpoint, I’d prefer to shoot young does and leave the mature girls to breed. And in my area that results in does of 60-85ish being most common.

No idea on age. I’ve never aged one on my place. Every one that’s been killed, and that’s not many, over the past 5 years has been 105-115.
