Has anyone had to deal with the Lemon Law in Alabama? If so what can you tell me.

I had to deal with it back in 2006. I was pretty much told that you’re going to be better off trading the vehicle and taking a loss than you are to deal with all the headache. The attorney I dealt with was right. I ended up keeping the truck for about a year, until it was worth more than I owed and traded it off. The law IS NOT friendly towards the consumer. The truck I had was in the shop 11 times in less than a year, once for an entire month, and they still couldn’t fix it. Stuck valve (in the shop three times for this), new head (spent a month in the shop), slipping transmission, multiple electrical shorts that they never could find, air conditioner went out, etc…The Lemon Law still didn’t cover it yet. Sorry to break the bad news.

Would be interesting to see which manufacturers have the highest and lowest lemon law cases.

An easier metric is warranty budget for the corporations. They spend billions on recalls and under-warranty repairs. And not all companies are equal as you would expect.

Must have been a GM. The slipping transmission gives it away.

I dealt with it in 98 on a Dodge Ram that I wish I hadn’t bought. But I had a very easy process for a lemon law deal. No lawyer needed. Talked directly with one of the district guys at dodge almost daily for 6 months while my truck was in the shop and couldn’t be fixed. Ended up being a wash money wise. They gave me what I owed and I walked away. Also got a dodge to drive every day while mine was in shop. Told em I’d keep it and they could have my clunker but that wasn’t a deal he wanted to make. Glad I didn’t make that deal

If the truck was bought in GA, dealer has three attempts to fix it. If not fixed, you can use the Magnuson-Moss Law and call it a lemon.

I did this back in 98 on a 1500 ram. There was an intake leak in the back and the torque converters were know to break snap rings. Mine did both. Regional Manager gave me $4500 trade assistance but I had to go back to original dealer I bought the truck from. James Oneal. Only truck in SE was the dealer owner in Culman. Would not let me go up there and get the truck, had to be transferred to Breman. Anyhow, it was a strange transaction.

Maxim magazine had an article several years ago where they interviewed an attorney that handled lemon law cases. His words were basically, Mercedes was the worst to deal with, while most Japanese makes were the easiest because they just wanted to take care of the customers.

Lemon laws are like black painters. Everyone likes to throw the word around but can't help you paint when you have a brush...💅💅

If I remember right when you buy don’t you give them the right to take it to arbitration first before you do anything else?
