I recently got a 2 year old border collie she is registered all shots but know nothing about her history she has two or three bad traits. She hates my cat she can be a hundred yards from me and hears me whistle and comes running but if she sees my cat or squirrel she is hard to get her off of them she is great in the house except she comes to my chair and lays her head on my lap from one side to the other. She runs along by my golf cart I have not introduced her to cattle because I don’t have any. Now I have trained labs, I have judged thousands of dogs in hunt test. I had one border collie for twelve years that could almost read and write I am just hoping this dog will do better because I am too old to start over.
I am drinking from my saucer cause my cup has overflowed. Thank you Lord

Being 2yr old you probably know it may be hard to break her from some bad traits from the previous companion. But if she is smart enough and you keep at her a little she may turn around

We got this gorgeous gal when she was 2. She'd been treated like crap and not socialized, was almost wild. With time, love and much understanding she has become an great dog, partly because she's so very smart. Then again, we're dog people. Hope your new pup turns out the same. ![[Linked Image]](https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-gBnGj4V/0/83389ac4/X2/i-gBnGj4V-X2.jpg)

I have one that is half Heeler and half Border Collie. He has a tremendous amount of energy and never sits still. He has to be doing something all the time. He even chewed the wheels on my Four Runner and ruined their looks. Just yesterday he chewed up my wife's Nativity scene which was a blowup product she purchased for 150 bucks. My wife took some of the Nativity and whooped him till a fly wouldn't light on him. I have never seen her that mad at anything before. He was sulking all night long when we got in and he knew he had messed up
Mine also follows the golf cart on a 1/2 mile run each evening to feed the calves. He runs ahead and catches mice in the hedgerow if he smells one, Chimpmunks from the neighbor's yard, and an occasional squirrel. He is fast as lightning and will catch mice in the garage and leave them on the concrete outside for us to see. I guess that is his way of saying he is earning his keep. I love him and he is probably the most loving dog I have ever had. He just can't get enough petting and talking to. Great with the Grandkids and plays nonstop with them. He is about to turn one and he is terror when we put him on a cow. I think he would even take on the Devil if we sicked him on him. My older Border Collie who is 9 just sits many times and watches him.
I can't stand a thief.

LOL, hopefully he'll grow up soon. Our puppy is a border collie/austrailian shepard mix. He dig holes everywhere. I fill them in, he re-digs the next day. Been opening the Amazon packages lately... He's sweet pup though and we love him.
