I ended up planting 250lbs seed with 900lbs fert after bushoggin then discing. We covered it up pretty good as well. No real rain for the next two weeks at least…how much do y’all think will be eaten by turkeys? Already have 5 on cam eating but there’s more than that around…

Being so far away with limited time I had to plant when I did to be honest. I wish I could have waited.

I planted a 2+ acre plot, just disced lightly and slung out the seed. Five hens showed up the next day and lived there. I went back and put out another sack of cereal rye last week and covered it up. I did that because i figured those hens had ate a bunch of my seed. Riding the tractor through there, i was seeing plenty of seed. Didnt look like they had hurt it

They will raise hell more hell than you think. Doves too. Happened to me last year.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

That’s one of the reasons I like to not disk my fields clean. I want residue left on top for several reasons including this and to help hold moisture

Your best bet is learning how to do an effective rain dance

I’d wait until rain comes and let it come up before I decided if I needed more.

It’s amazing how they don’t miss much. I planted 50lb millet and had a dozen hens there everyday. I saw a dozen plants tops that germinated.

I planted brassica's first this time. I figure if I can get out ahead of rain and the brassica's have come up some, that gives me some cover.

Turkey's will wear out a field. I had some down in a field I put some 0-46-0 on, and I swear they were eating that.

Update: Thankfully they didn’t get all the seed but did some damage that plus no rain for a month…included a live pic of some of them in action lol
