Sure, but that would be a double rare occurrence. Black leopards and jaguars are rare to start with and such a rare animal escaping from a sanctuary or zoo would be much rarer still. Not to mention such an animal raised in a zoo or sanctuary if not rapidly recovered would starve to death in a week. There is no way in flaming hell that such a bizarre rare occurrence is the genesis of all the people claiming to see black panthers from every corner of this state and it's ridiculous to keep pushing this as a viable explanation for it.

It’s not really cat sanctuaries but folks that have them unknown by others. Like you mentioned escapees would probably starve which may lead to being seen briefly and then disappearing

Like the black panther wording is actually credible. I always thought it was a different lineage of big cats but according to google it’s not

I posted links to credible sightings in TN and that’s not that far. A hunter killed a Florida panther in GA close to the Alabama line.

I’ve also stated I think in this thread that the majority of sighting are more than likely misidentifications but that doesn’t disprove all sightings. That has always been my point.
