So me and the GF on way back to her place yesterday after thanksgiving lunch. Its about 4:00 we are 10 minutes away and her ring cam alerts. She lives on a dead end road about 2 miles long and 10 houses spaced out along it and cant see the neighbors. She opens the camera app and sees a older car with a set of rims and tires on it worth more than car. She keeps watching and a guy gets out of the passenger side and just sorta stands there while her lab in the fence is going crazy. About 30'seconds later someone else gets out of drivers side and walks up closer to the house. By that time ahe can tell its definetely not someone from this area. So i put it in hi gear and head that way. We were 2 minutes out when she said they were leaving and she watched them go on toward the dead end. We tried calling the neighbors at the dead end but they were out of town. Once we got back to her place i dropped her off and headed toward the dead end. Came up on the guys leaving that house and had them blocked on the single lane road. Turns out it was amazon delivery drivers in their personal vehicle with no signage, no clothing with co name on it to show who they were etc. I told em they needed something showing they were amazon delivery so people wouldnt worry when they saw them. They agreed and were polite. He said they had a lot using personal vehicles this year with no signage. So keep that in mind this holiday season if ya see a strange car in driveway.

The Amazon drivers around here mostly known local people. But when they get somebody who aint local they risk getting shot rolling into some folks yards. They really need some-kind of signage even if its just a door magnet sign.

Yeah I seen that myself. Never thought of blocking them in and finding out who they were. The packages left on the porch kinda told the story.... Correct if there had been any packages left. They were at the wrong address. They delivered to the next house down. The road is narrow and 2 vehicles cant pass except in certain spots. Wasnt like i turned vehicle crossways in road.

Amazon has actually been doing that for several years now. Especially at Christmas time.

I guarantee their insurance carrier doesn't know they are using their personal vehicles for Amazon.

UPS does it too during Christmas season. Last year I had a UPS driver pull down my driveway in an unmarked van. I met the driver as he got out of the vehicle with my hand close to my piece on my side. He saw my pistol and immediately took a smart aleck attitude, telling me that if I threatened him I could go into Tuscaloosa and pick up my packages. I set him straight by defending my stance with the fact that I couldn't see him in the van at dark thirty and had no idea who he was in an unmarked vehicle. I called UPS later and complained to them about the entire situation. In today's world a homeowner just can't be too careful.

I guarantee their insurance carrier doesn't know they are using their personal vehicles for Amazon. Ups and FedEx also hire extras during peak season that use their personal vehicle, those companies will not issue packages if they don’t carry the appropriate insurance.

How does that work for them as far as doing something to their or others vehicle. Figure Amazon would be in the mix but they may go the other way and ur own ur own.

I got a text from one like that asking me to put up any dogs I had and turn out outside lights. I’ll be damn if I did that. I’d add more lights and cameras with signs saying cameras in use and beware of dog.

I'm not a lawyer but a retired LE officer that teaches other officers, but I made that statement based on my having a deer run into the side of my truck and when I filed the claim the first question I was asked was if I was working as a delivery driver for any company.

I had a delivery from 2 different Amazon folks yesterday, both in their personal vehicle and one did have a sign on the side of his car that he paid the local sign guy to make for him because Amazon doesn't provide anything identifying them. But, I also think that these people work for someone who bought a location to deliver in and these drivers are not direct employees of Amazon itself. The ones in big cities that deliver are in vans that have definite signage on them that I have seen.

Ups and FedEx also hire extras during peak season that use their personal vehicle, those companies will not issue packages if they don’t carry the appropriate insurance. The companies will want to see proof of insurance before hiring the driver. They really don't care what kind of insurance it is so long as its legal for the state you work in. If you get into trouble while on the job, your insurance company may have an issue depending on your policy. If somewhere in the fine print of your policy that you agreed to it says "if you use your vehicle for work you must do XYZ" and you do not or have not done that then you could have issues about whether you are covered or not.

I’d assume working as a contract laborer would remove liability from Amazon. Like mentioned they’ve been doing this for several years around Christmas time. Im
