We did check into that when we bought this house 8 years ago. If I remember correctly, we didn't qualify due to my income. My property taxes went from $4500 a year to $650 when I moved to Alabama. I froze them at $765 last year. I have no complaints with that annual amount. The Boss wants to move back to Texas when I retire to be closer to the grand kids. I told her Oklahoma was as close as we were going to get if we move.
What do you mean by "froze them?" My home will appraise at the same value on the tax rolls unless I make improvements. My property tax will increase only if the actual tax increases. I was surprised that I got some sort of break after I made 65 trips around the sun. My property taxes dropped almost $100 from the previous year.
