The wood on my tractor hauling trailer needs to be replaced. Should I use treated lumber or regular pine? Anyone used either?

It be's that way sometimes.

I’d look for some white oak.

If this isn’t an option, get critical structure lumber that is double treated. You can get it from Alfa lumber in bham I know, but I’m sure other places carry it too.

That white oak wood looks expensive. Most everything I’ve seen has a pine floor.

If youre going pine, use pressure treated. If you were closer, i could eventually get you some white oak cheaper than you could buy pressure treated pine. Could have got it last week. Not sure when i have another white oak to cut

I’d look at getting ground contact pressure treated pine. OR if you can find someone who has rough cut white oak. It would simpler with ground contact because it’s regularly available

White Oak is the BEST choice but....I cut some Red Oak from a lot being cleared along with one decent White Oak Log. I'll keep it Oiled with Used motor oil and it should last longer than the treated pine did.

Gotta fine a small sawmill and get a lower grade . Pressure treated pine is OK . Not as strong and doesn't last as long as PT used too.

Ive heard sweetgum is what many like to use on their lowboys. If you can find it at a mill it may be worth a try.

Gotta use treated if using pine. I’ve used “Herculiner” on my wood and it has done well. I think UV affects wood as much as moisture.

Now that's some good lookin' pine boards. A trailer with that for a floor would have the best looking floor around.

I just redid my double axle 6.5' x 14. $130 for pine. It was twice as cheap to use a local lumber store vs box store. sure oak is better but it's alot heavier, just depends on what size truck and tractor you got. It the past i bought some oak from the amish for an excavator trailer and ordered some wood treatment off the net that you mix with water and roll on.
