The time has come for me to upgrade my freezer situation. I am thinking of buying a commercial 2 door reach in style. Does anyone else have a commercial freezer? What are your thoughts? I will be using this for long term storage of our beef and pork. We currently have 5, yes 5 small freezers just so we can keep things organised and not end up with years old meat. All but one of these freezers are the smaller chest type. Do the commercial units seem to use a lot more electricity than the homeowner units? What about frost, is it an issue? This will be in my basement, its not climate controlled exactly, but stays cool year round, plenty of room and drive in access.

Thanks,
Jason

I would personally rather have more than 1 freezer, and on different circuits in case a breaker pops. Then you don't lose everything.

Good point. Right now I have 3 in the basement and 2 in the laundry room. One would be easier to power in case of a longer term power outage tho. I cound replace on or two of the small ones with one larger one and gain the area I need. Even if I add a commercial one, it wont be enough to hold everything and we will still have the ones in the laundry room regardless. It would only replace the 3 small chests in the basement.

I like my 36w x 24 deep on three different controls with generator backup.

My charity has 4 TRUE double door freezers in the warehouse but the ones on the trailers are hoshizaki. Not sure about cost to operate... The ones in the trailers dont take much power to run. Each trailer has a 20kW diesel generator and the freezers take far less power than some of the other appliances in there. I know the tilt skillet uses a LOT of power. We probably should have gotten a propane one instead of electric.

I think they came from Sanford in Northport. But they might have just been servicing them.

I love my country, but don't trust my government.
