My 299,250 mile Toyota Tundra has a crack in the cylinder. It still runs, but it is on its last legs. The truck is in great condition except for the engine, but I can't see me putting a new engine in it.
I have gone online and gotten quotes anywhere from $550 to $3k for it for junk cars. The past few years I have put on new rotors, struts, alternator and battery. This truck could probably sell for $$$ for its parts.
Any ideas or suggestions?
I thought the transmission would go first. Sadly, it was the engine. What a great truck it has been. The truck prices for used cars are damn insane.

Get a new motor, gotta be better in the long run. I don't know, he only got near 300,000 miles out of the first motor. You Know a twin turbo V-6 wouldn't have to work as hard! sarc

Check with Copart. Sold them my Sequoia when the (stretched) timing chain jumped time at 196k. Nobody wanted to tear it down and overhaul it, only replace the motor. It wasn’t but half of what it was worth, intact, but much better than a $2k tax credit donating it to St Jude, Cars for Kids, etc.

Damn I am feeling good about mine. I need a rear engine seal on my 07 Sequoia, and it only has 388,xxx. Still keeping though because it is running fine The "Pimp Mobile" is alive and well.

If its an early 07 5.7L.. i think the first 100k or so trucks produced that year with that engine had some issue like your havin..its like a 53block cummins..just something you have to research and look for..the 07 with the 5.7L is probly the most reasonably priced year model used of all the 2nd gen trucks because of this..i think you can look up when the truck was produced by the vin but im not 100% sure on that..my buddy bought an 07 an his motor blew up around 200k miles i think…an he bought it with like 170k..so..he was upset…that may be the only year model i know of that ever had any issues much with that engine..an it was not all of them either. The million mile tundra was a 4.7L 2uz-fe…if this truck has a 4.7..this would be very out of character..the only issues i know of commonly for the 4.7 is exhaustion leaks in the manifold..on 4runners..not tundras or any other application they used that motor in. As said above..the 5.7 is a awsome engine..you may have just got one of the kind..some folks put alot of miles on them before failure..but those engines are usually doomed before they live to their full potential..just the earliest 5.7…none that came after..im not a mechanic..i read all this on toyota forums.

If there are no other real issues I would put a new motor in it. I bought a 2006 Tundra brand new in late 2005 and it blew the head in 2019. I sold it and bought another truck. In hindsight I should have put a new motor in it since it had no other real issues and I hate truck notes.

John Graham 2056683441 does only Toyotas. I bought a Tundra engine from him, and a LC engine from him. I’m sure he would buy yours. Mines a 2007. Put n engine during Covid had 80K on it. He’s in Calera I think. Good luck. I bought a low mileage 4 runner motor from him also a few years ago. No issues

I'd look at a low mileage engine , out of a wreck like BullMountain did.
