I’m at Black Prairie WMA in Mississippi for a draw gun hunt. Have to kill a doe before you get a Buck tag. Killed my doe yesterday afternoon walking to my spot. Saw probably 15 deer yesterday morning, bout to make the mile plus walk to the spot I want to hunt this morning.

I’m set up on a food plot and corn feeder this afternoon with my bow. My 6 year old son is hunting with my Dad this afternoon and they’re toting my muzzleloader here in Zone D…If the deer do what they’ve been doing, Dad should see an old buck right at dark (been there the last two days). Good luck, everyone!!! Food plots are finally coming along here!! I drew blood on a doe about 6:15…I felt like it was a liver shot when I replayed it in my mind and the arrow verifies that. Lots of blood, but it is watery and slightly gut-smelling. Had a shooter in the next cornfield over while walking out. Too dark to get steady on him in the scope before he spooked. They have to be 15” inside spread or 18” main beam here to be legal.

We picked up the track about 8:30 and walked straight to the deer within a few minutes…I thought the deer was perfectly broadside when I shot and I’d pulled the shot toward the back of her ribs. I’m not sure what I saw when that nock hit her to make me think that??? I literally hit her where I was aiming, but she was quartered to me more than I realized. It exited at her last rib, so that totally explains the watery blood and gutty smell. She went about 100 yards and it was steady blood the whole way.
