People been killing deer DRT with any ole off the shelf soft point ammo in .30-06 for near 100 years.
Can't go wrong with CoreLokt or Sierra. I prefer 165's myself if the gun shoots them well
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

The only thing I’ve shot corelokts with and been displeased is my 25-06. It shoots the 100gr corelokt into .75moa groups and I’ve killed some deer with them but I’ve lost a number of good deer that I know I killed. I rarely got an exit with them and next to no blood. Luckily most were DRT or piled up within 40 yards. A few made it over 100 yards and I found them on a grid search. Others were never found. I shoot the 117gr silver tips in that rifle now. They don’t print as well though. I had problems with no exits with the silver tips in my 25-06. I use 120 grain CorLokts and got consistent exits. Now I load 110 grain Accubonds and have been very pleased with them.
83% of all statistics are made up.

My Ruger shoots 165gr Federal sierra gamekings into 1” groups all day. Luckily I bought a bunch years ago and have a lifetime supply at the rate of usage. Bought a box of these on clearance at Academy years back. Shoot great and hammer deer. Wish I had a case of them.

During the great ammo drought a couple of years ago all I could find was Norma. Won't go back now. Good stuff.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Who sells Norma or do you purchase it online? What make sit a superior product, price, quality, USA made, etc.? PPA, pretty, price and availability. I don't know where it is made but Norma is a Swedish company. Get it online from a number of retailers.

Basically anything will work if using a 30-06.
I reload so, I just choose a bullet. My rifle likes the 180gr Sierra Game King. It's way overkill for Southern deer, but like I said it's very accurate in my rifle. So many people shooting 165 and 180 grains in 30-06. I always felt that was overkill for Southern deer. Just surprised so many people shooting these large bullets.
