People been killing deer DRT with any ole off the shelf soft point ammo in .30-06 for near 100 years.

Can't go wrong with CoreLokt or Sierra. I prefer 165's myself if the gun shoots them well

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Luckily most were DRT or piled up within 40 yards. A few made it over 100 yards and I found them on a grid search. Others were never found. I shoot the 117gr silver tips in that rifle now. They don’t print as well though.

I had problems with no exits with the silver tips in my 25-06. I use 120 grain CorLokts and got consistent exits. Now I load 110 grain Accubonds and have been very pleased with them.

Bought a box of these on clearance at Academy years back. Shoot great and hammer deer. Wish I had a case of them.

Damn near every deer I’ve shot with Hornady 165gr SST cuts a flip and dies on the spot. If they do run, it’s about 30 yards max. It’s all I will ever shoot out of mine.

During the great ammo drought a couple of years ago all I could find was Norma. Won't go back now. Good stuff.

I'd get a few flavors of cup and core design bullets and see what it liked most.

And Jawbone , the same thing happened to me and I'm a Norma fan now too,

I get mine online. You can buy straight from Norma, but I usually go to Ammoseek and see who has the best prices with shipping. It's made in Sweden and the brass is highly polished top tier brass. They load a few different bullets but their whitetail hunter is basically a Corlok.

Norma is good ammo. I bought 20 or so boxes last year when they had a really good sale.

PPA, pretty, price and availability. I don't know where it is made but Norma is a Swedish company. Get it online from a number of retailers.

Online ordering (check ammoseek for pricing)
The Academy stores down here also stock it (I've only seen 30-06 and 308 in the 2 Mobile stores though)

Basically anything will work if using a 30-06.

I reload so, I just choose a bullet. My rifle likes the 180gr Sierra Game King. It's way overkill for Southern deer, but like I said it's very accurate in my rifle.

So many people shooting 165 and 180 grains in 30-06. I always felt that was overkill for Southern deer. Just surprised so many people shooting these large bullets.
